Students participated in a school-wide Nitroball tournament at the conclusion of the PE unit during study hall. Individual classes competed each period to see which teams qualified for the school-wide tournament (qualified teams pictured below). Nitroball, an inverted version of volleyball with unique rules similar to 4 square, is a highly anticipated unit that is a student favorite! Congratulations to this year's 25-26 MMS Nitroball Champions - Ruby M, Ryleigh F, Mila W, and Beau G!

The Shelbyville boys' basketball game that was postponed this past week has been rescheduled for Monday, February 16th.

Be sure to make it to the HS gym tomorrow night at 8:00 to cheer them on as they battle Clinton for the title.

Hi Hawk Nation!

Due to conditions outside of our control, the following adjustments have been made to Hawk Athletics for this week:

The Girls' CIC Tournament games scheduled for Monday have been moved to Wednesday in the HS gym (NO CIC games on Monday). Tuesday's Girls' CIC Tournament games WILL REMAIN the same. A fresh schedule reflecting these changes are attached.

The boys' game scheduled for Wednesday against Shelbyville has been adjusted to the MS gym and remains on Wednesday. Senior night will be moved to Friday night's game against Nokomis. This will allow our seniors the opportunity to have senior night in the HS gym.

The away games that are scheduled for our MS volleyball and Freshman boys are still being evaluated by all schools involved. Final communication about these games will come from respective coaches.

With the wind chill forecasted to be -25 in the morning, Meridian schools will be closed on Monday, January 26.

The monthly FFA meeting is scheduled for Tuesday during study hall. All 8th grade FFA members are invited to attend.

Group yearbook pictures with Interstate Studio will be taken on Friday morning. If you haven't pre-ordered your child's copy of the 25/26 yearbook yet, it's not too late! Go to www.inter-state.com/order and use code 0284WC. The deadline to order is April 3.

Looking ahead - Midterm for the 3rd quarter is Friday, February 6. Please reach out to individual teachers with academic questions or concerns.

With wind chills forecasted to be around -20 in the morning, Meridian schools will be closed on Friday, January 23. The status of extracurricular events tomorrow and over the weekend will be communicated by the athletic department.

On Sunday, January 11, 4 Lady Hawks represented MMS at the Girls Jr. High All-Star Basketball Game. Attison M, Jensen D, Mila W & Kaia A represented us well. Both 7th and 8th grade teams won and all 4 of our girls had contributions to the wins! Thank you to SkyWalker International Sports Complex for hosting the event and inviting us to participate!

There is no school tomorrow for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Students who made the Principal's List (straight A's) for the 2nd quarter will be treated to donuts and juice before school on Wednesday. Go Hawks!

Congratulations to our 8th grade volleyball team for winning the 8th grade Wildcat Classic in Edinburg today! Two first place finishes for our Lady Hawks makes for a great Saturday!! Their next home game is scheduled for Thursday against Argenta. Make plans to come cheer them on! 🏐

Our 7th graders went 3-0 this morning in the Hawk Round Robin Tournament to add another trophy to our trophy case! It was a great morning of volleyball against some talented teams. Congrats to our Lady Hawks!

We have a lot of competition taking place today for our Hawks!

*The 7th grade boys basketball team will kick off post-season IESA Regional play this morning in Sullivan. The Hawks will play Shelbyville at 10:00 a.m.
*The 7th grade Lady Hawks volleyball team will host Edinburg, Warrensburg, & Okaw Valley in the Hawk Round Robin. MMS plays at 9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., and 11:00 a.m. in the MMS gym. If you are planning to come to this tournament, please park and enter through the MHS doors. The cost is $5 for adults & HS students and $3 for K-8 students & senior citizens.
*The 8th grade Lady Hawks volleyball team will play in the Edinburg tournament starting at 8:45 a.m.
