Congratulations to our individual students who made the IXL Leaderboard during the month of December. These students became proficient in a LOT of math or ELA skills over the month! Congratulations also to ALL the students who continue to meet their goal of gaining at least 10 points in the diagnostic arena. We had 85 students receive a treat (for meeting that goal) in ELA and 87 students in math.

2nd quarter report card grades have been finalized and posted. If your child was absent before break and still has make-up work/semester exams to complete, grades will be updated upon completion. A paper copy will be sent home with students this afternoon. Report cards can also be viewed on the TeacherEase app (more - report cards - report card). The Academic Honors listing for 2nd quarter will be published next week!
Eli T. worked hard on skills before break to MAX OUT on IXL in ELA! When a student maxes out, it mean they have earned a score equivalent to a high school senior level. Welcome to the 1300 club, Eli!!
Don't forget that tomorrow (Wednesday, January 7) is a 1:30 p.m. dismissal for the Macon Campus. 2nd quarter report cards will be sent home with all students. Please make sure any transportation changes have been made prior to school starting.
We are looking forward to welcoming students back for the 2nd semester on Tuesday! This is a great opportunity for everyone to reset and focus on academics, attendance, and positive attitudes! We had a wonderful 1st semester, and we are hoping the 2nd half is even better!

Meridian is adding a high school wrestling program for the 2026-2027 school year. Applications are currently being accepted for the head coaching position.
Even with the anticipation of Christmas break, students made December our best month yet for monthly perfect attendance!! 102 students will be treated to a snack once we return from break for reaching this goal. Let's work together to make 2026 even better!

While walking through the halls I noticed that Coach Comerford was taking the time to just talk to her cheer team. It looked like she was having a Christmas party with them. She was passing out gifts and I overheard the girls sharing what they were looking forward to over the break. It was nice moment. We are thankful to have a person that thinks about and cares for her team. As the cheer season approached, the girls were still without a coach, but she stepped up and told us she would do it. Because she did, the girls were able to have a season. For that....we are grateful. Thank you so much Mrs. Comerford!

When we return from Christmas break, the 7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams will compete in the Okaw Jr. High Conference Basketball Tournament. The 7th grade team will play at Central A&M while the 8th grade team plays at Shelbyville/Moulton. Here are the brackets to get the games on your calendars!

Join us on Monday at the boys' basketball games for 8th grade night and Pack the Place! Our 8th grade boys basketball players and cheerleaders will be recognized along with their parents between games. Make plans to come out and cheer on our Hawks! The 7th grade game will begin at 6:00 p.m.
7th and 8th graders will take 1st semester exams on Wednesday and Thursday. If your child will not be at school either day, please let the office know so exams can be taken before break. Our lost and found table is full! Please encourage your child to stop by and check out the items before break to take home anything that belongs to them. Remaining items will be donated after break!
Our VIP fundraiser luncheon that was schedule for Friday will be rescheduled for after Christmas break!
