What a week it has been at Meridian! From Boys Volleyball and Powder Puff to our Homecoming Assembly filled with games, laughter, and school spirit, our students have made this week one to remember.
Tonight, we want to take that spirit beyond the school walls and into our community!
We are calling on all of Meridian to come out and line the streets for our Homecoming Parade tonight at 5:30 PM!
The parade will be escorted out of the school by our community first responders, travel down Wall Street, turn at Whit's End onto Front Street, then turn onto Glenn Street before heading back to Wall Street and finishing at the school.
Our fall athletes, students, coaches, and organizations will be out celebrating, and we want them to see the community that stands behind them.
Tomorrow, our football team takes on Pawnee at 11:00 AM. Our students have planned a Homecoming Tailgate Breakfast, and the day will continue with football, friends, and the Homecoming Dance.
But first, let's show our kids what it means to be part of Meridian.
You don't have to be a parent, an athlete, or even have a student in school to be part of this. This is OUR community, and our kids deserve to see us show up for them.
Bring the family. Find a spot along the route. Wave, cheer, and help us make some memories.

GO HAWKS!
The Macon campus will be running an alternate bell schedule tomorrow morning to accommodate the planned Homecoming festivities! Don't forget - The entire district (K-12) will dismiss from Macon following the District Assembly tomorrow afternoon. Because of this, students may arrive home earlier than anticipated.
Please Note the Following for Friday's Dismissal -
*MMS/MHS students will begin dismissing at 2:10 p.m. to either get to their bus, meet their pick up, or start walking home. Once all HS/MS students are on their way, we will begin organizing the MES students for dismissal.
*All bus riders (k-12) will be picked up from the MMS entrance (Door #3). MES students will be escorted to buses.
*MMS/MHS car riders will be picked up from the MHS entrance (Door #13). Cars picking up MMS/MHS students should enter AND exit from the north drive near the football and softball fields. The south drive will be blocked off for MES car riders.
There will be staff members in the lot to help the flow of traffic, but please remember to not use the south drive (between the building and the baseball field) as it will be blocked off for MES car pick up. Through traffic will not be permitted until we begin loading MES students.
We have a fun week ahead with Meridian Homecoming and the kick off of the basketball season for our girls! See the attached graphic for all the Homecoming activities and make plans to come out to support our Hawks!
There will be an informational meeting with Coach Smithers during study hall tomorrow for boys interested in trying out for basketball this year. Make sure to join the SportsYou group for open gym dates.
30 students were randomly selected on Friday for our Hawk Buck Casey's pizza raffle. The pizza will be provided during lunch on Tuesday.
Before the district assembly on Friday, students will participate in a variety of team-building activities so we will not run our traditional bell schedule. Please note that the entire district will dismiss from the Macon campus on Friday. All bus riders will be picked up, like usual, from the front of the MMS building. All MMS and MHS car riders will be picked up from the front of the MHS building (like usual). We will begin dismissing our students around 2:15. If you also have a child at MES who you will be picking up with an older sibling, please communicate this with their MES teacher. Those students will be escorted to the MMS/MHS pick up line. All other MES car riders will be picked up from the south driveway between the building and the baseball diamond. Because of this, we ask our MMS/MHS pick up parents to enter AND exit from Macon Dr. (North of campus). A dismissal map is included.
Our annual AWESOME NOVEMBER RAFFLE fundraiser also kicks off on Friday! More information will be provided at the end of the week!

This award recognizes students who consistently demonstrates respect, teamwork, encouragement, a positive attitude, and good sportsmanship during PE. Mason has been a great example of these qualities and has made a positive impact on his classmates! Way to go, Mason!
Both our softball and baseball teams made it to their Regional Championship games this Fall season. While neither team came away with the championship, both teams competed in high-stakes games and gave themselves a good chance to win.
These are some of the experiences we hope our student/athletes carry with them. The next time they find themselves in a big game, a big moment, a new activity, or a challenging situation in life, they can look back and know they have been there before. They know what it feels like to show up, compete, handle the pressure, and give their best.
This picture is just a small sample of the great kids and teams we have at Meridian. We are proud of every one of them and everything they have accomplished. (Unfortunately we were not able to catch each player for the pic.)
We wish them all the best of luck as they move on to their next sport, activity, and challenge. Keep putting yourself in these moments. Keep competing. Keep giving your best. Hawk Nation is behind you.

Make plans to travel to Warrensburg on Wednesday for the baseball regional championship.
The Hawks defeated ALAH 11–6 today in the regional semifinal and will now travel to Warrensburg on Wednesday, September 23, to take on WL at 4:30 PM.
We need a BIG Hawk Nation crowd in Warrensburg! Come out and support the boys as they play for a regional championship!

The first day of tryouts will be October 19, but open gyms will be held throughout September and early October.
Players must have a current athletic physical on file to participate in open gyms and tryouts.
