While walking through the halls I noticed that Coach Comerford was taking the time to just talk to her cheer team. It looked like she was having a Christmas party with them. She was passing out gifts and I overheard the girls sharing what they were looking forward to over the break. It was nice moment. We are thankful to have a person that thinks about and cares for her team. As the cheer season approached, the girls were still without a coach, but she stepped up and told us she would do it. Because she did, the girls were able to have a season. For that....we are grateful. Thank you so much Mrs. Comerford!

When we return from Christmas break, the 7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams will compete in the Okaw Jr. High Conference Basketball Tournament. The 7th grade team will play at Central A&M while the 8th grade team plays at Shelbyville/Moulton. Here are the brackets to get the games on your calendars!
Students will dismiss at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow for Christmas break. There is no student attendance December 22 - January 5. School will resume for the 2nd semester on Tuesday, January 6. We hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Join us on Monday at the boys' basketball games for 8th grade night and Pack the Place! Our 8th grade boys basketball players and cheerleaders will be recognized along with their parents between games. Make plans to come out and cheer on our Hawks! The 7th grade game will begin at 6:00 p.m.
7th and 8th graders will take 1st semester exams on Wednesday and Thursday. If your child will not be at school either day, please let the office know so exams can be taken before break. Friday is a 1:30 p.m. dismissal before break. Activities will be planned for students to enjoy all day. In addition, students who were absent on either day will take their semester exams.
Our lost and found table is full! Please encourage your child to stop by and check out the items before break to take home anything that belongs to them. Remaining items will be donated after break!
Our VIP fundraiser luncheon that was schedule for Friday will be rescheduled for after Christmas break!

A call will be going out soon, but any of you who are anxiously refreshing your feed can be the first to know. The roads are not good this morning, so Meridian will have a snow day on Friday, December 12. Enjoy the three day weekend, kids!
Congratulations to Wes P. for MAXING OUT out on IXL in ELA!!! Wes has worked hard to join the IXL 1300 club... which means he has become proficient on skills that are equivalent to the high school senior level!!
We had a packed auditorium for tonight's MMS (beginner & intermediate) & MHS band concert. All 3 bands did a terrific job performing a variety of holiday songs under the direction of Dr. Chris Raymond. We hope everyone left feeling ready for Christmas!

Volleyball tryouts for interested 6th - 8th graders begin tomorrow from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. in the MMS gym. All participants must have an updated physical on file prior to trying out. Please reach out to Coach Kirby with questions.
Auditions for the MMS Drama Club will take place on Monday and Tuesday. Students interested in auditioning for a role in this year's play should sign up for one slot.
The MMS & MHS Christmas band concert is scheduled for Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium. This is a free event that the community is invited to attend!
There will be an informational meeting on Thursday during study hall for students interested in trying out for Scholastic Bowl.
The VIP fundraiser incentive lunch will take place on Friday for students who qualified.

Scholastic Bowl tryouts will take place when we return from Christmas break. There will be an informational meeting during study hall next week in Mrs. S Moyer's room.
