The Meridian Music Department kicked off their Spring concert series tonight with performances by the Beginner, Intermediate, and High School Bands. Under the direction of Dr. Chris Raymond, the three bands did a phenomenal job performing a variety of songs, and Dr. Gordon even joined them on stage for a triangle debut! Congratulations to the Award recipients and the Senior band members!

GREG STREEVAL RETIREMENT CELEBRATION (5/1/26)

This Friday, we celebrate Coach Greg Streeval and the legacy he leaves behind in Meridian Softball. Greg is a 12 time Regional Champion at the HS level and went to state 3 consecutive years at the MS level, but his influence goes far beyond the success of the softball field.
Varsity game starts at 4:30 on the Meridian Softball Field vs Tuscola. JV innings to follow.
Retirement reception following the JV innings (track shed area)
Join us as we thank Coach Streeval for nearly three decades of dedication, leadership, and commitment to our student-athletes.

Students have one finally chance at a Casey's pizza Hawk Buck raffle this week. They can sign up one time in any Core class until Thursday. 30 students will be randomly selected & announced on Friday. The cost, if drawn, is $50 Hawk Bucks with pizza being provided on the following Tuesday.
There is a Washington DC meeting for current 7th graders interested in going on next summer's trip on Monday at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium. Make plans to attend for more information and a $50 trip credit! Please email Mr. Peckovich at

There will be a JFL meeting with Dr. Gordon during study hall on Thursday for current 6th and 7th graders interested in playing football this upcoming season.
The MMS & MHS Spring band concert will take place on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium. This is a free event and the community is invited to attend!
We are excited to have the 5th graders visit us on Friday afternoon for a tour and Q&A session with some of our student leaders!
Good luck to our track teams when they compete this week and to Scholastic Bowl when they compete in the IESA Regionals on Wednesday.

Midterm reports for the 4th quarter will be sent home with students earning below average grades on Wednesday. These should be signed and returned to team teachers by the end of the week.
7th & 8th grade students will participate in a career fair on Friday morning. We are excited to welcome guests who will represent 19 different trades to MMS!

Mark your calendars! An awesome event is coming to the Decatur Civic Center on May 2. Fourth and fifth grade students will be attending this event as a field trip on Thursday, April 30, but Saturday is open to the community. Also, any high school students who are still looking for volunteer opportunities, the ROE is in need of volunteers for the Saturday event.

Congratulations to our students who finished on top of the IXL leaderboard during the month of March! They mastered a combined 166 ELA skills and 229 math skills! Also, congratulations to both Mr. Britton's 4th hour 6th grade math class and Mrs. Rhoades' 7th hour 6th grade literature class for gaining possession of the traveling IXL trophy. We have one month left to master skills and finish the year strong! Keep growing, Hawks!

The following message was sent out in an email to all Meridian families in 6th-12 grade.
Meridian High School, in conjunction with Springfield Clinic, will be offering sports physicals for the 2026-27 school year on June 4 at Meridian High School. These physicals are only for those students entering grades 7, 8, 10, 11 and 12. Students entering grades 6 and 9 must have a standard Illinois School Physical for entry into those grades. Physicals will be given from 3-5pm and will be scheduled in 15 minute blocks. Attached to this email is an information sheet along with the pre-physical forms to be filled out and brought in on June 4.
