Tonight marks the beginning of another exciting season at home as Meridian Volleyball and Meridian Soccer host their home openers!
Volleyball vs. Sullivan--JV starts at 6:00PM
Soccer vs. Olympia--Game time 6:00PM
There is also something new making its debut tonight — our new American Flag, which will be proudly displayed. We are excited to add this flag to our HS gym and create another way to show pride and tradition within Meridian Athletics.
A special thank you to Decatur Memorial Hospital and the Decatur Memorial Foundation for their generous support of Meridian Athletics. Their community sponsorship helped make this project possible, and we are grateful for their continued investment in the health, wellness, and activities of our students.

Beginning Tuesday, August 25, the high school and middle school will begin dismissing school ten minutes earlier than normal. This change in format is being done in an effort to better accommodate transportation times to the Stonington campus and, in turn, alleviate later bus drop offs after school. Going forward, students will be dismissed from the high school and middle school at 2:20 pm on a regular day, 1:20 pm on a 1:30 dismissal day and 11:00 am on a half day of school. If you ride/pick up after school, please make sure to note the adjustment to these times. Thank you in advance!

Corpus Christi has asked if we can push the start time of our softball game back to 11:00 AM, and we have let them know that will work for us.
We are still waiting to hear back from their officials, but right now, the plan is to play at 11:00 AM.
If anything changes, Coach Johnson will send an update through the MS Softball SportsYou app.

PE uniforms that were pre-ordered are being handed out to students during class today. There are extra t-shirts (in adult sizes) available to purchase in the office. There will be another opportunity to order additional sizes and items online soon!

Please note the update to our district cell phone policy - MMS Students will be “cell phone free” from AM bell to PM bell to focus on academic success and social development. If you need to get your child a message during the school day, please call the office and we will get the message delivered!
School kicks off for students on Tuesday, August 18 with a 1:30 p.m. dismissal. All students will receive a printed schedule in 1st hour.
This upcoming week is loaded with baseball and softball! Make plans to come out and support our Hawks.

Green and White Night 2026
What a great night to celebrate Meridian Athletics and, more importantly, our community.
Thank you to everyone who came out to support our fall athletes. We were proud to introduce every fall program, including our youth JFL teams, and celebrate the coaches and athletes who will represent Meridian this season.
A special thank you to Dr. Raymond and our marching band for a fantastic National Anthem and school song, our cheerleaders for keeping the energy high all night, and Brandon Chappell for doing an outstanding job behind the microphone.
Thank you to the Meridian Booster Club for their work in the concession stand, and to the South Macon Fire Department for their flag presentation and support of our school.
We also appreciate our football coaching staff for adapting the evening's activities because of the wet field conditions and finding a way for our football players to get out and be part of the night.
Nights like last night are a reminder of what makes our community special. When we come together to support our kids, encourage them, and help them become stronger people, we are doing something worthwhile.

We are thrilled to welcome Mrs. Amber Allison to the Meridian Middle School staff! Mrs. Allison will be teaching 6th grade math, 8th grade Algebra, and 2 high school math sections this school year. She comes to us with several years of math experience at Argenta and currently resides in the Meridian district with her family. Fun Fact - Mrs. Allison actually completed her student teaching with Mrs. McGuire in the same classroom she will be teaching in! When you see Mrs. Allison, make sure to welcome her to the district!
