The following MMS open gym/field opportunities are available for our athletes this week - Monday- Baseball: 8-9:30 a.m. Tuesday - Girls Basketball: 10-12 p.m. (MHS gym) Boys Basketball: 3 - 4:30 p.m. (incoming 7th & 8th grade) Wednesday - Boys Basketball: 3-4:30 p.m. (incoming 7th & 8th grade) Thursday - Boys Basketball: 3-4:30 p.m. (incoming 7th & 8th grade) Friday - Boys Basketball: 8-10 a.m. (incoming 7th & 8th grade) Also don't forget that the volleyball camp put on by the MHS volleyball team is scheduled for Tuesday - Thursday in the MHS gym for those who pre-registered! Middle school girls basketball will have open gyms for incoming 6th - 8th graders starting on Tuesday, June 4 in the MHS gym. Open gyms will take place every Tuesday and Thursday in June from 10:00 - 12:00. All girls interested in playing basketball for our Hawks next year are invited to attend!
There are upcoming summer open gym dates planned for the MMS boys basketball team starting in June. Dates and times are listed on the flyer. Please note that the July dates are tentative based on gym floor resurfacing. Changes will be communicated by Coach Smithers. Please email smithersjess22@gmail.com with any questions!
Online grades for the 4th quarter/2nd semester are finalized and accessible on TeacherEase. There is an option to view the actual report card by selecting "more" - "report cards" on the app. If you would like to pick up a printed copy of your child's report card, please call the MMS office at 217-764-3367 to make arrangements to do so.
Tomorrow (Tuesday, May 28) is the last day of school for students! Each grade level team has a variety of activities planned for students to enjoy before we kick off summer break. Tomorrow is a 1:30 p.m. dismissal. If your child does not plan to attend, please call the office (217) 764-3367 or email Mrs. Comerford at comerfordc@meridianhawks.net.
Now that semester 2 has been wrapped up, details for summer school have been finalized. Emails were sent out to student (and their parents) who are required to take summer school during the month of June for promotion to the next grade level. A letter will also be sent in the mail this week as a follow up.
Final 4th quarter grades will be emailed on Thursday, May 30. Grades can also be viewed on TeacherEase.
For students returning to MMS in the fall, the building will be open during office hours starting on Monday, August 5 for students to walk their schedules, practice locker combinations, & drop off supplies. The building will also be open to accommodate work schedules on Monday, August 12 from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. The first day of school is scheduled for the 24/25 school year is Monday, August 19.

Chromebooks will be returned during 7th hour today! Students should also turn in the provided charger & case with pouch. If there are any lost or damaged items, please let the office know. All items much be returned or replaced to participate in our end-of-year activities on Tuesday!
We are so proud of our Hawks who represented MMS at the IESA 3A State Track Meet that was held in Peoria over the weekend.

Morgan K (8th grade) placed 4th in the 400m dash, 10th in the 100m hurdles & 16th in high jump.
Trenton D. (8th grade) finished 9th in high jump.
Corbin N. (7th grade) placed 20th in the 400m dash.

It’s hard to believe that MMS fall baseball is right around the corner! Coach Britton was able to meet with some of the boys today and will meet with the rest next week. 15 students met the Accelerated Reader Super Reader goal for the year and were treated to Mexican for lunch today. After enjoying chips & queso, a delicious meal, and dessert, they aren't going back to school hungry!
Our Hawks head to Maroa in the morning for the IESA Sectional track meet. If you are planning to attend, the cost is $7 for HS students and adults and $3 for seniors and students. Good luck to our athletes participating!

State Senator McClure is promoting a summer reading club. Information is available at each school building office.
We had a packed house for the spring band concert this afternoon. The beginner band and 7th & 8th grade bands have worked very hard and performed several great pieces! Grace M., Eleanor M., & Emy W., this year's ILMEA All-District band participants, performed Swing Low, Sweet Chariot together. Excellent job to all our MMS musicians!
We had a great afternoon with the 5th graders on our campus. They got to hear the MHS band perform, had a lot of questions answered during a Q&A session, and took a tour of the building. They especially liked finding their names on the welcome bulletin board our MJHS created!
41 students qualified for the end-of-year AR movie incentive. These readers were treated to Del's popcorn, candy & a drink. Per 8th grade Advanced Lit request, we enjoyed Kung Fu Panda 4 on the big screen!
