Our 7th and 8th grade teams made the trip down to Shelbyville last night and they both came away with wins.
The 7th grade won 20 to 11. The 8th grade won 24 to 18.
Great job girls...keep it up!

Just a reminder that our Student Council Halloween Dance is TOMORROW night from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.! This free dance is for MMS students only, and guests are not permitted to attend. Students are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes, and there will be concessions available to purchase - Small bills are encouraged! The doors will open for students promptly at 7:00 p.m. and rides should be arranged to pick up at 9:00 p.m. sharp! We are looking forward to a fun and safe night!

A BIG congratulations to Jackson, who auditioned and was selected to represent MMS at this year's ILMEA District 5 Music Festival! He will perform this November at Eastern Illinois University alongside the best middle school musicians in the region. We're very proud of you!

There is no school on Monday for Columbus Day.
The Student Section theme for Tuesday's home girls' basketball game is Hawaiian. We hope to see a lot of students come out to support our Lady Hawks!
Friday is the end of the 1st quarter. Report cards will be provided to all students on Wednesday, October 22. Please encourage your child to finish the quarter strong!
The Student Council Halloween dance is on Friday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the MMS gym. Students are encouraged to wear costumes. This dance is for MMS students only and is free to attend. There will be concession items available to purchase as well as a picture opportunity & costume contest. Students are asked to bring small bills. The doors will not open until 7:00 p.m., and we ask that rides are at the school for a prompt 9:00 p.m. pick up.

We are looking forward to our 1st annual "Operation Spirit Stick" activities at MMS tomorrow! Students will enjoy an obstacle course, decorate their own Homecoming shirt, and participate in some friendly competitions to get pumped up for the district Homecoming assembly! This day is made possible thanks to our Fall Raffle Fundraiser. Thank you to everyone who has already purchased a ticket to support MMS. Still need a ticket? Contact any Meridian Middle School student (or the office) by the end of the month! Go Hawks!

The MMS Student Council walked some of the route during study hall today to help clean up after yesterday's parade as a community service project. Thank you to Mrs. Moyer, Mr. & Mrs. Cutler, and Officer Matt for helping to escort the students on this beautiful afternoon!

Our fall raffle fundraiser started off strong last week! Ticket sales will continue through the month of October. Extra tickets to sell can be requested each morning before school from the concession stand window. If your child does not plan to sell the assigned tickets sent home for fundraiser kick off, please return them as soon as possible so we can get them reassigned! Thank you in advance for support the fundraiser that provides so much extra for our students each year!
This week is Homecoming week for our Hawks! We are excited for all the fun festivities planned. Don't miss the Homecoming parade on Wednesday evening. It will kick off from the school at 5:30 p.m. Also, we have spirit activities planned for our MMS students on Friday leading up to the District pep assembly that will start at 1:00 p.m.
Mark your calendars for our MMS Halloween dance that will take place on Friday, October 17 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. This dance is for Meridian Middle School students only and is free to attend. Students are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes and can bring money (small bills, please) for concessions, the costume contest, and picture opportunities.

Meridian Proud!!
Here is a photo dump from just the past few days at our school. These are extra-curricular moments that are just fun and makes one proud to be in this community. These are your kids Hawk Nation!
We had 8 MS girls sing the National Anthem together and it was a powerfully awesome rendition that moved the whole gym.
We had 2 HS girls' basketball members ref MS girls' basketball games. What an awesome example!
We had a whole host of MS and HS students cheering on the MS basketball team.
We had several HS students dress up in camo to cheer on the VB Team. (Didn't get a picture, sorry)
Our football team and cheer team went to the elementary school this morning to give high-fives to our younger students. You know that had to brighten their day!
We had a practice time dedicated to helping the powder puff players get ready for their big game at next week's homecoming. They practiced running routes and learned some football plays from some of our football team members.
There was just a lot going on around here this week.
It would be awesome to see our community gather around our students next week to help support them during homecoming. If you are a former Meridian grad, from out of town, please consider coming back to attend our parade or any of our home events. Hope to see you here!

ATTENTION HAWK NATION!
Upon entry of a Meridian HS or MS athletic event, each student will receive a raffle ticket. Students will write their name on the back of the ticket and turn it into the concession stand for that game. At the end of October, each school (MES, MMS, MHS) will draw names for winners. This month, each school will have 4 winners of $25 Amazon Gift Card. The more games you attend, the better your chances. Students, mark your calendars for all of our home games. SEE YOU HERE!
