Ethan P. received a Hawk Proud award today for his heroic actions that saved a loved one's life! We are proud of you, Ethan!!

The students are learning that it is harder to show IXL growth as their skill levels get harder, but they are certainly up for the challenge! Students are continuing to become proficient (and even master!) skills in math and ELA. Congratulations to our students who finished on the top of the November Leaderboards!

Our students have been working really hard to make ATTENDANCE MATTER at MMS! We had 102 students with perfect attendance (and no tardies to school) during the month of November... That is 28 MORE students than October! There are only 15 days of school attendance in December. Make those days of attendance a priority so we can finish the semester strong!

Students who received a midterm report before Thanksgiving break should return the signed portion to their grade level teacher tomorrow! We are on the final homestretch of the semester with only 3 weeks of school left. Please check in with your child daily to ensure they are getting the completed work turned in on time. Questions or concerns should be emailed to the appropriate classroom teacher. Students will have the opportunity to save a staff member from Santa's naughty list by bringing spare change all week. All money raised will benefit the Salvation Army Angel tree this year. Thanks to MJHS for planning this community service Christmas project! This Wednesday is a 1:30 p.m. dismissal for school improvement. Study hall is short on early dismissal days, so transportation changes should be made prior to your child coming to school! Boys Basketball - Monday: HOME vs. Holy Family; 6:00 p.m. Thursday: HOME vs. Clinton; 6:00 p.m. Volleyball - Tryouts will take place in the MMS gym this week! All participants should have an updated physical on file (within the calendar year) and should be registered on 8to18. Tuesday: 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday: 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday: 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Friday: 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Go Hawks!

Meridian CUSD #15 is proud to announce that the Illinois Principals Association has selected Meridian Middle School Principal, Mindy McGuire, as the Abe Lincoln Region Middle School Principal of the Year. Mrs. McGuire is in her sixth year serving as MMS Principal. Prior to that, she served MMS as a math teacher for eleven years.
The Illinois Principals Association is a statewide organization with 21 regions. Annually, each region recognizes an elementary school, middle school, and high school principal of the year. The Abe Lincoln region is made up of Menard, Sangamon, Logan, Christian, Dewitt, Piatt, Moultrie, Shelby, and Macon counties. Of the recognition, Mrs. McGuire remarked, “Our region consists of a lot of really great administrators, so I’m honored to be recognized by the IPA. Meridian Middle School has some of the very best teachers, staff members, and students. I feel very fortunate to be the building principal and have the opportunity to positively impact the education and support we offer daily. The middle school years are some of the most important and, at times, can be the most challenging, so I truly can’t imagine working with a different group of students. I look forward to continuing to work with our administrative team as we look for ways we can continue to improve the educational experience we provide at Meridian.”

Thanks to Brynlee H. for picking today's $50 raffle winner! Congratulations to Christine Ramsey for being selected. Thank you for supporting MMS by purchasing a ticket!
