After the Blue Period ended Picasso followed with paintings using warmer happier colors called the Rose period. Our Kindergarten students used "happy" paint daubers to create clowns. Our inspiration painting is called " Family of Saltimbaques".

Picasso painted in only cool colors and shades of blue for a period of about 2 years. Ask your Kindergarten student why he did this and I'm sure they will tell you. This period/style was called his Blue Period.

Kindergarteners were introduced to the many styles of Pablo Picasso. One style that Picasso created was called Cubism. Here is a picture of our inspiration called "The Three Musicians". The students were to create their own version using paper collage.

Texture animals by Kindergarten

More kindergarten artwork being added. This work was inspired by the artist Paul Klee. Kindergartners created a cat using pastels. A fish using lines and textures for scales. A city landscape using geometric shapes. Also an abstract portrait using cool and warm colors. All in a style similar to Paul Klee

Due to school closing we were unable to hold family night to show off all our wonderful student art. However I will be posting pictures of our displays for everyone to see. Let's start with Kindergarten!!!

A HUGE “Thank You!” to Krekels in Macon for the donation of food they donated during Meridian Elementary’s Grab & Go Lunches.
Krekels in Macon will serve any mode of transportation, whether it be car, bike, or feet at their drive- thru! Meridian Elementary loves our Krekels!

Come see us at Meridian Elementary for your Grab & Go!

Our cooks are busy preparing grab and go lunches. Thank you Carolyn, Paula, Brenda & Marsha!!

We will try to reschedule Spring pictures when we return to school.

A Grab and Go lunch will be provided tomorrow for school age children (snack provided for pre-k ages) as stated in tonight’s message from Mr. Pygott. Pull up to the entry of either MMS or MES between 11:15-12:30 for a sack lunch. An adult worker will meet you at your car to find out how many lunches are needed.
Starting Wednesday, we will also have 2 satellite locations with meals available. A bus will be parked at the office in Hyde Park and at the Post Office in Boody from 11:15-12:30 to best provide these lunches to our kids who do not live in Macon or Blue Mound. If you are interested in participating, we encourage you to call the office to let us know. We will, however, have plenty of lunches prepared, so this is not a requirement.
*These meals will only be provided on days students should be in attendance at school.

Students today were sent home eLearning packets and eLearning plans were emailed and Dojoed home to all families. If your student was absent today, packets may be picked up at the school Tues. - Thurs. from 8-1 this week. We will get through this together - #We Are Meridian!

Due to school closing, we will not be holding our bookfair. We are not able to reschedule it this school year. We are so sorry.

Governor Pritzker and the State Superintendent of Schools announced that Illinois public schools will be closed from Tuesday March 17- Monday March 30. More information will follow for our E-Learning plans and extra curricular activities. Stay safe & healthy!

Monday, March 16 will be an early dismissal day for Meridian students (11:10 -Macon/11:30- Blue Mound). Students will be asked to take school materials home and directions will be provided for e-learning options..
