There is no school (or remote learning) tomorrow - Monday, January 18. In-person learning will resume on Tuesday, January 19 🎉. Doors will be unlocked at 7:15 a.m. with 1st hour beginning at 7:46 a.m. If your child is not a bus rider, please ensure he/she arrives in time to make it to class before the 1st hour bell rings. Students will report to homeroom/1st hour upon arrival.

2nd quarter/1st semester report cards were emailed to parents/guardians this morning. Please contact the office or the appropriate teacher(s) with any questions. MMS study sessions are back! These small group sessions are with MMS teachers and are offered in both Macon and Blue Mound on scheduled days. Congratulations to Mrs. Rhoades' 5th hour Literature class for winning the Read to Succeed competition in December through Achieve 3000. They received a $25 gift card that will be used to purchase more books for her classroom library that the students can enjoy. Keep up the great work!

Tomorrow (January 4) is a remote learning day. Students should login to Google Classroom in the morning for announcements and daily tasks. There will not be live instruction. Our virtual live instruction with resume on Tuesday. We will follow the same schedule as before Christmas until we return to in-person learning on January 19.

The latest IESA update (12/29) can be found here - https://iesa.org/news/2020-2021/COVID_12-30-20.asp . At this time, boys basketball will not begin on January 4, and volleyball will not begin on January 11. We will continue, however, to provide IESA updates as they are received.

If you have a child who attends MMS, please complete the 2nd semester survey that was emailed to parents no later than Sunday, January 3. Survey responses will help with in-person planning when we return to the building on Tuesday, January 19. If you did not receive the survey, please email mcguirem@meridianhawks.net.

The latest IESA update was emailed to schools yesterday.  At this time, it is uncertain that boys basketball will be able to start on January 4 or that volleyball will be able to start on January 11.  We will be watching for updates over Christmas break and will send out information as it becomes available. If your child is planning to play either boys basketball or volleyball, please make sure the physical is up-to-date in case try-outs/practice starts on time. The remote learning schedule with live instruction will begin tomorrow (Monday, November 30). Students are expected to follow the class schedule provided and login to Google Meets for daily instruction. In addition, breakfast/lunch will be provided daily. To order a lunch, call the appropriate office each morning by 9:00 a.m. If you will be picking up at MMS or Hyde Park, call the MMS office at 764-3367. If you will be picking up at MES or Boody Post Office, call the MES office at 692-2535. Meals can be picked up at MMS or MES from 10:45-11:15 a.m., Boody Post Office from 11:15-11:45 a.m., and Hyde Park from 11:30-12:00 p.m. (please note time change). Our office will be open daily from 8:00-3:00 p.m. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the office or email the appropriate classroom teacher directly.

This Wednesday (November 25) is a planned remote learning day. Live instruction will not take place on this day, but students should check Google Classroom for assignments and tasks to complete. Breakfast/lunch orders for Wednesday are due to Mrs. Janvrin (janvrine@meridianhawks.net) by 3:00 p.m. today. Meals will be sent home at the end of the day tomorrow. *The remote learning schedule emailed last week with live instruction will not begin until Monday, November 30. *

As we begin preparing for remote learning, here is a helpful Google Classroom video created by Mrs. Campbell. This video shows what the students see on Google Classroom vs. what the parents see on the parent summary. Helpful advice: -Login to Google Classroom as your child (using your child's username and password). This will allow you to see detailed assignments and if your child has turned the assignments in. -Download the Google Classroom App on your phone or tablet. If you turn notifications on, this will alert you when a teacher posts assignment and/or returns an assignment to your child. Other questions? In addition, a username/password sheet has been created for students to organized educational links, usernames, and passwords that will be needed during the remote learning time period. All open gyms that were scheduled for this week have been canceled. This includes volleyball, girls basketball, & boys basketball. Cheerleading practice will continue as scheduled. I apologize for the inconvenience. Please check our MMS Facebook page, the live stream on our webpage, and posted morning announcements for information on when the open gyms will resume.
