Happy Holidays from Meridian Schools!

Students will be dismissed at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday) to kick off Christmas break! Students who were absent for exams on either Tuesday and/or Wednesday will have the opportunity to take their exams tomorrow. We also have fun activities planned for our kids to enjoy! If your child will not be in attendance tomorrow, please make sure to let the office know so we can make sure students are marked accordingly. School will resume for students on Monday, January 8!

We will be running a semester exam schedule today and tomorrow for our 7th & 8th graders to take their final exams. All students will follow the modified schedule and should have something to work on quietly.

Outstanding Christmas performances by Mr. Clark's beginner and 7th/8th grade bands! It's fun to see how the groups improve and transform with hard work from year to year!

Coach Sparks is leading the MMS & MHS PE classes in some line-dancing fun today!

Students in Mr. Bates' classes enjoyed working together to dissect starfish today.

Congratulations to Raelynn Burrows, Kaden Shafer, Cheyenne Mudd, Morgan Knierim, Parker Witts, Dylan Cox, Chloe Clevenger, Addi Gant-Fuller, Draven Anderson, Matayah Bach, Maleea Heacock, Mason Call, Makenzie Fisher, and Zada Dudley! Their work was selected by jury from nearly 300 pieces to be displayed in the DAAC/Madden Art Center in the Anne Lloyd Gallery (in Decatur) from January 4th-25th. The opening reception will be held January 5th at 5:00 p.m. A special congrats goes out to Raelynn for having her painting chosen for the exhibition's postcard/advertisement!
A special thanks to Mrs. Perrey for taking the time to submit the work of her students so it can be showcased in the community!

The MMS & MHS chorus did a fantastic job at tonight's Christmas concert! A special thanks to Mr. Anderson for working with our students and providing chorus as an option at MMS/MHS again. The chorus sounded great and many students were featured soloists. The group will perform again in the spring!

With last week being such a short week, we presented two students with the Hawk Proud Award this week!
Domoneck C. was nominated by a classroom teacher for showing respect for his classmates and enthusiasm for every activity that is planned. She said that he is a huge cheerleader for his peers and is a pleasure to have in class.
Myla O. was nominated for always being willing to help others and for having a positive attitude. She is a student who always has a smile on her face!!
Congratulations to both Domoneck and Myla!
Other students receiving a HAWK PROUD SHOUT OUT this week - Rylin H., Kyler P., Karlie S., & Addison M. Great work, Hawks!!

William F. picked our final raffle ticket for the 23/24 school year. He drew Melanie Schelling for the $25! Thank you, Melanie, for being a big supporter of the Hawks and for donating it back to MMS!
We'd like to once again thank everyone who purchased a raffle ticket from our fall fundraiser. We were blown away by the support and promise the money will be put to great use for our students to benefit! #itsagreatdaytobeahawk
