Fannie May orders are due in the office by FRIDAY! The order form says today, but we pushed it back a few days due to snow days. Thanks to everyone who has purchased!

We've got a busy day on the Macon campus as Meridian hosts the IESA 7-2A State Basketball Series. Best of luck to all teams competing this year!

This week's Hawk Proud award was presented to Maxine P. When Maxine collided with a classmate during an activity in the gym, she quickly stopped to check on her before moving on. Maxine is a caring student who often puts others first which certainly doesn't go unnoticed!

Did you know that tomorrow is National Wear Red day? Students wanting to attend tomorrow's pickleball championship game during study hall can do so by donating $1. It's not too late for your child to participate! Money raised will be donated to the American Heart Association.
In addition, group pictures will be taken in the morning for the yearbook!

We encourage all fans at Meridian contests to display positive behavior toward all participants.

Congratulations to MHS/MMS Athletic Director, Kelley Lucas, who was named the IHSA 2023-24 Girls Track and Field Official of the year. This is a tremendous honor and one that is truly deserved. Aside from serving as our AD, Mrs. Lucas devotes a great deal of her time and energy away from Meridian as an IHSA Track and Field Official. Once again, congratulations Mrs. Lucas on this honor!

Our district phone lines were updated over Christmas break. (217) 764-3367 is the active phone line for MMS, so please make sure that is the phone number stored in your phone. If you previously received a phone call from us that came from a different line, that number/extension will not connect you with us anymore. Please only use (217) 764-3367 to call our office moving forward!

Our favorite premium chocolates are back for our Spring Fannie May fundraiser with a few new options to choose from! MMS students will be selling boxes of Fannie May for $15/box until Friday, February 9. Orders will be in before Easter. Money raised through this fundraiser helps us to provide various student incentives throughout the year. If you are interested in ordering a box or two, reach out to a MMS student or contact the office (217-764-3367 or mcguirem@meridianhawks.net). Thanks in advance for supporting MMS!

Our Hawks walked away with some BIG WINS this Saturday!
The 8th grade boys basketball team defeated Warrensburg (39-31) during the first round of IESA Regionals. They will now play Riverton in Williamsville at 7:15 p.m. tomorrow (Tuesday).
Our 7th grade volleyball team also took 1st place in the Hawk Round Robin Tournament. The Lady Hawks defeated Edinburg, Okaw Valley, & Warrensburg. All 3 volleyball teams will be back in action tonight at Argenta Oreana with the 6th grade game starting at 5:00 p.m.
Go Hawks!!

We are going to establish a morning bus stop at the pavilion in Macon (across from the bank) for any MMS/MHS student who normally walks to school. The bus will pick up at 7:25 a.m. starting tomorrow (Friday, January 26). If your child is interested in catching a ride, please make sure they are at the stop prior to pick up.

Roads remain to be very slick. As such, Meridian Schools are closed for Tuesday, January 23. Since the school is closed, all extra curricular events are also cancelled. The call/phone notification will go out at 6:00.

With the continued forecast for ice in the morning, Meridian Schools will be closed on Monday, January 22. Since we cancelled, hopefully this will be the incentive for mother nature to go somewhere else!

The IESA 8th grade Regional bracket for boys' basketball has been posted! Our 8th graders will play Warrensburg at Williamsville on Saturday, January 27 at 11:15 a.m.
Good luck to our 7th grade teams as they start Regional play tomorrow in Williamsville. We play Riverton at 11:15 a.m.
Go Hawks!

This week's Hawk Proud Award was presented to Payton S. for having great sportsmanship during Wednesday's basketball game. The teacher who nominated him noted that Payton offered to help an opponent up multiple times after colliding with him and then checked on him again after the play. Way to make us proud, Payton!

6th grade science classes used hot water, ice, & hairspray to make clouds in class today. What a fun lab following a cold day off yesterday!

Tomorrow's lunch at the Macon campus will be hot turkey & cheese, green beans, & mixed fruit.

Make plans to join us tomorrow (Wednesday) for our Pack the Place night when our Hawks' basketball team hosts the Taylorville Tornadoes for 8th grade night! Our 8th grade athletes and their parents will be recognized between games, the MMS pep band will play, & students going on this year's Washington DC trip will have walking tacos for purchase, a 50/50 raffle, and a half court challenge. The 7th grade game will kick off at 6:00 p.m. Go Hawks!

With the forecasted wind chill being -20* in the morning, Meridian Schools will be closed on Tuesday, January 16. Enjoy the snow day!
