Girls' Soccer had their home opener last night vs Athens. Even though the end result was not what we wanted, it was a really strong showing. Coach Rund and our girls are ready for a super competitive season.
We have two returning players who made some great contributions last year.
Molly Burgess ended the year with a recognition of 1st Team All-Sectional award.
Sophia Lehman earned All-Sectional Honorable Mention.
Good luck to these girls and the rest of the team as we tackle the Spring soccer schedule.
Their next home game is on March 24th vs Springfield Lutheran @ 4:30.

Just a reminder our 9th Grade Academic Program is Wednesday, March 18 at 6:30pm in the MHS/MMS Auditorium. We ask that all incoming 9th graders, and at least one parent, attend. Please enter through the high school doors. We look forward to welcoming our new students and providing them with academic information that will be important over the next four years.

Congratulations to these band students, who were selected to represent Meridian at this year's Macon County Honor Band. They spent all day rehearsing alongside some of the best musicians from the area's eight High Schools. They gave an excellent performance and we could be more proud!
This year's selected students are: Jak Braun, Alexandria Cornthwaite, Anthony Dillman, Chloe Elder, Christian Espiritu-Moody, Carly Fitzpatrick, Delaney Frieden, Furie Fringer, Arianna Hagan, Lilly Jibben, McKenna Koehler, Grace Moyer, and Carson Ryan
Congratulations to these twelve band members who will represent Meridian at the semi-annual Macon County Honor Band. These students have been working hard to prepare a fantastic but challenging program to perform alongside some of the best high musicians in Macon County. We hope you can join us for the concert on Thursday, March 12 at 6PM at Cerro Gordo High School.
Meridian track had a great night last night at MTZ.
Tristan Ziemer scored points for us in the Triple Jump and Drew Smithers scored points in the Long Jump.
Jonas Henderson finished in the top 9 in the 200m.
Seth Ralston finished in 10th in the 60m High Hurdles.

Additionally, we need to recognize our very own Kaia Arndt and Toledo Cumberland's Harper Nichols for being chosen for the IESA Sectional Sportsmanship award. This award recognizes positive attitudes and sportsmanship throughout the Sectional. Congratulations to both of these competing girls!

Our student body showed up BIG tonight and did a fantastic job of cheering our team to victory. They did a great job of encouraging, being loud, and were unified behind our girls. We had the louder side of the gym by far and the girls knew it.

The girls have made our community very proud. They showed grit, determination, and execution and really just got the job done, in only two sets.
