November always begins a season of focusing on giving to the community at MHS. Our Students Against Destructive Decisions group is currently sponsoring its annual coat drive. From 11/8-11/30, donations of new or gently worn coats can be dropped off in the HS office. From 11/8-11/17, students dropping off donations in the Great Hall, before school, will be entered into a girt card raffle. Please send in your donations for this cause!
Mrs. Stewart's English I classes are finishing up their Scary Story unit. They have been looking at several examples of stories and, today, they began creating story boards for their own spooky stories- just in time for Halloween!
Today, members of MHS SADD read to students at MES as part of Red Ribbon Week. This week is dedicated to programming aimed at educating students on the dangers of drugs and alcohol. So happy our students are able to connect with younger students on this important topic.
Today is the statewide principal appreciation day. As a principal, so much of your time is spent fulfilling other people's needs, both students and staff. Principals have such a demanding job day in and day out. Thank you to a GREAT administrative team at Meridian! Mrs. Guebert, Mrs. McGuire, and Mr. Hurelbrink, your leadership is so appreciated.
Please see the attachment for employment opportunities with the Meridian school district.
Just a reminder that Post Prom will be holding a Lagondola fundraising dinner and basket auction at tonight's volleyball game. The dinner begins at 5pm in the Great Hall. Come out and support this group in their efforts to create a great Post Prom for our students.
I am so excited to announce that MHS senior, Leilani E., is one of the top ten essayists in this year's National Public Radio Illinois "This I Believe" essay program. Her essay, "This I Believe: Being Called Weird is a Compliment" was one of the many submissions in response to NPR Illinois' invitation to participate in the tradition started by NPR's radio program "This I Believe". Leilani will be honored at the Meet the Authors program on November 9 at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield. Congratulations, Leilani! We are so proud of you!!
Tomorrow night, October 13, Meridian High School's FCS Club will be collecting canned and non-perishable goods for the Blue Mound Food Pantry. Mr. O'Brien's robotics class played freeze tag with the robots they have been working on in class. This class has been a great addition to the computer electives offered at MHS this year!
The pep rally was awesome, the games were a blast, and the tug of war was intense! Over 1,000 voices all cheering M-E-R-I-D-I-A-N!!!

Thank you to the Meridian District, Student Council and Mr. Stielow for another great all district pep rally. It is one of the highlights of the year! #WeAreMeridian #MHSRules
Wednesday, September 13, is the Homecoming Parade beginning at 6pm. The lot between the football and softball fields is for staging those teams/groups riding in the parade. PLEASE do not park in this lot or use it as a drop off point in order to avoid congesting this area. Trailers are asked to enter the south drive and pull around to this lot to line up. Riders should be dropped off at the HS lot and walk over to this area. Those driving attendants should use the parking lot located outside the District Office for line up purposes. We thank you for your cooperation and ask that you please share this post. #WeAreMeridian
I am pleased to let you know we now have our live-streaming back up. To watch MHS sports go to YouTube and search @meridianlive. You will want to subscribe (for free) to enjoy this service. Please pass this along and thank you for your patience as we have struggled to get this up and running!
