Walk-A-Thon 2023

The pep rally was awesome, the games were a blast, and the tug of war was intense! Over 1,000 voices all cheering M-E-R-I-D-I-A-N!!!

Little Hawks had a beautiful day to spend at Scovill Zoo!!

Fourth grade students have been reading about advantages and disadvantages of technology. Today we discussed whether or not cell phones should be allowed in classrooms.

First graders reviewing number sense

First graders were hard at work finding and writing CVC words.

Third grade made place value donuts to continue our work with place value, rounding, and addition!🍩

Third grade has been studying plants in science this week, learning about pollination, parts of plants, seeds and seed dispersal, and selection with some hands-on activities.

In Mrs. Hadowsky's art class kindergartners have been learning how to create patterns. They decorated their name folders using patterns.

Kindergarten has been having color days. Today was rainbow day. Mrs. Guebert read A Rainbow of my Own book to the classes. Her rainbow hair was very silly!!

A huge Hawk thank you to everyone for your Walk-A-Thon donations. Today we collected $16, 648. Our winning class, with donations totaling $1, 817, is Mrs. Meisenhelter's 5th grade class. Great job everyone!! We will hold our Walk-A-Thon next Friday at 8:15am. All students and staff will receive a free Meridian t-shirt. If you would still like to donate, we will keep our online link open or you may send your donation into the school by next Friday. Thank you again for everyone's support!

Mrs. Trimble's class had a virtual visit from a past student. We enjoyed listening to a book and checking in with Matt Parker via Zoom while he is away at school.

Mr. Snively's class played "Eat or Be Eaten" in science class today. In this game, students develop their thinking about predator/prey relationships between living things by creating food chains. The goal is to make the longest food chain!

Mrs. Getz's kindergartners went on a safari zebra hunt today.

3rd graders took a walk to identify parts of a plant and pollinators.

Exciting day in the MES Library!! We have the 1st shipment of some wonderful new books and series that will be added to our collection. We can't wait for the kids to start checking them out. 📚

Today we celebrated Pam's retirement!

It’s Walk-A-Thon time! This is the only fundraiser the PTO ask our students at MES to do for the entire year!
The funds raised by this event pays for field trips, assemblies, extra room supplies, technology needs, field day, and other fun activities for our students.
Between now and Sept. 8th students are asked to seek out donations for their Walk-A-Thon school fundraiser. All donations need turned in by Sept. 8th. Contributions towards Walk-A-Thon can be cash, check (payable to Meridian Elementary PTO) or online at
