This morning, I had the distinct pleasure of attending the Illinois Principal's Association Student Leadership Breakfast with Katy C.. It was rewarding to see Katy, and the other honorees, recognized for their character and leadership within their respective buildings. Having known Katy since before she was in Kindergarten, I have had the opportunity to see her grow up and become the outstanding young woman she is today. Katy has been a great student and leader for the past four years at MHS. I am so proud of you, Katy!
Congratulations to all three Meridian representatives - Mason H, Jensen D and Katy!

On Friday night's home softball game the Meridian community came out to honor long time softball coach Greg Streeval.
Coach is planning to retire at the end of this season, so it gave us an opportunity to say "thank you" and show our appreciation for the legacy and impact he has made on Meridian Softball. The school is proud not only of his accomplishments, but also the way he has shaped the lives of his players and the example he has set for generations of student-athletes.
In addition to a reception with coach after the game, there was a PA announcement that captured some of Coach Streeval's accomplishments. That reading is copied below.
Thanks again, Coach Streeval!
Good evening everyone! Tonight, we’d like to take a special moment to recognize someone who has meant more to Meridian softball, and to this community, than we can possibly measure.
Tonight, we honor Coach Greg Streeval as he celebrates his retirement after nearly 30 years of coaching at Meridian, beginning in 1999.
During his incredible tenure, Coach Greg led our program to 12 regional championships, 7 conference titles, earned All‑Area Coach of the Year honors three times, and Sectional Coach of the Year twice. The Meridian Middle School team placed third in the state three years in a row (ask to see his tattoo after the game), and more than 30 young women went on to play college softball, many of whom are now coaches themselves.
But beyond the wins and the banners, Coach Greg has always seen his players as his own kids, and they’ve felt that every step of the way. He is a fierce competitor who expects the best, not just on the field, but in life.
We also want to recognize and thank Coach Greg’s family for sharing him with Meridian softball all these years. His wife Debbie, daughter Sam, son‑in‑law Brad, granddaughter Charley, and his sister Diana and brother‑in‑law Jack have been constant pillars of support and familiar faces in the stands, cheering on every pitch.
Tonight, we celebrate a coach, a mentor, and a leader who has shaped generations. Please join us in congratulating Coach Greg on an incredible career and a well‑earned retirement.
Greg, from your players, your family, and the entire Meridian community - thank you.

Here is this week's athletic schedule for the HS.

Today was Rube Goldberg day in Ms. Bracken's Physics class. This is always a stressful day with the anticipation of seeing hard work (hopefully) pay off. This year's challenge was to open a box using 20 energy transfers and the six simple machines. Each groups creation lived up to the challenge!! Great job, kids and Ms. Bracken. Always one of my favorite days!!

Today, Mrs. Rappé was honored as 95Q and Y103's Teacher of the Month! Mrs. Rappé is so deserving of this for all of the time and effort she puts into her students and teaching. Thank you, Mrs. Rappé, for all that you do for Meridian!
