Today I am proud to recognize two young ladies who were selected as MHS honorees for the Central Illinois Conference Student Recognition. Jesse Damery and Alexandra Martin have both embodied the spirit of academic achievement and athletic participation our conference promotes in student athletes. Jesse is the daughter of Brian and Mindy Damery. Jesse has been involved in volleyball and softball during her 4 years. On the softball field, Jesse has earned all county, all conference and all state honors. Jesse is co-valedictorian of the senior class and has been an active member of NHS, Student Council and SADD. Jesse will attend the U of I in the fall and will play softball for the Illini. Alexandra Martin is the daughter of Angie Carmean and Jeff Martin. She has played volleyball, soccer and has been a cheerleader for four years and has also been active in National Honor Society, SADD and Student Council. Alexandra will attend Indiana State University in the fall as part of their honors program. Girls- I am so proud of you and all you have done for Meridian. I am sorry I won’t be able to solve all of your issues at lunch any longer but, hopefully, I gave you some sage advice to take with you!
