Today in Little Hawks we read the story Splat the Cat and the Pumpkin-Picking Plan, we saw how many pumpkins tall we were, balanced some balls on spoons as we dropped them into pumpkin buckets, found our perfect pumpkins that matched our shape game, painted a picture of a pumpkin inside of a baggy for a mess-free craft, and ran to different pumpkins in the gym while trying to identify the letters on them! 🎃
To find out more about our playgroups, join our group page - www.facebook.com/groups/littlehawks15/ . Next week, we will be visiting Pumpkin Creek Farms!

Pre-K learned about fire safety last week and got to visit the South Macon Fire Department!

Meridian Elementary PTO Spirit Wear Sale - checks should be made payable to MES PTO.

Kindergarteners practicing letter recognition and writing.

Little Hawks read the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar today!! 🐛 We then made a butterfly craft, made a butterfly with our snack, sang and danced with our scarves as we acted like butterflies, went on a pretend butterfly hunt inside, and then played in the gym!! 🦋
Join us next Thursday, October 13th at 9:30am at the Community Center in Blue Mound!!

Reminder, Thursday, October 6th is Little Hawks at 9:30am at the Community Center in Blue Mound (the corner of Lewis St. and Lincoln St.). We will do our butterfly lesson that we had planned but I do not believe we will have butterflies to go see at Mrs. Edwards's house. We will talk about the life cycle of a butterfly through a story, song, snack, and have some time to run and play in the gym!
Little Hawks will meet every Thursday in October at 9:30am at the Community Center, however October 20th they will visit Pumpkin Creek Farms at 10am, which is the same day as the pre-k field trip!

Reminder - Friday, 10/7 is an 11:30 dismissal. No School on Monday, 10/10 for Teacher In-service. Enjoy your break!!

Meridian Elementary 4th Graders enjoyed a presentation by Hudson Orthodontics today. We learned about getting braces and dental hygiene!

Little Hawks had a beautiful day for a Roll and Stroll!

Last night, we had a Weenie Roast for those Little Hawks that are not currently enrolled in the Meridian PreK program!! We had perfect weather and a great time with yard games, hot dogs and s’mores, hiking for some, and a wagon ride at The Griswold Conservation Area (“The Mound”)!! Thank you to those families that came!!

Tomorrow, Little Hawks will be meeting at Wise Park in Blue Mound at 10:45am for a Roll and Stroll. Bring your strollers/wagons/walking shoes and go for a 20-30 minute walk. We will meet back at Wise Park for a snack and if you want, you can pack a sack lunch to go along with it. We will try again next week to continue our butterfly visit to Mrs. Edwards when the butterflies have hopefully arrived!

Having fun while working on two digit subtraction!

Picture Packages are coming home today- be sure to check your child’s backpack! If you haven't ordered, it's not too late. We're sending home slips printed with your child's picture and Order Code, so you can still order online. Picture retake day will be Tues. Oct. 18th if you missed picture day or need pictures retaken.

Today for Little Hawks we read the book Mind Your Manners about misbehaving animals learning how to be polite to make the world a better place! We also traced our hands to make a bee craft to help us remember to “Be Kind! Be Polite and Be A Good Friend!” I think our favorite part might have been jumping around to our songs and running around/acting out different animal moves in the gym!!

Just a reminder that Thursday, Sept 22nd, is Little Hawks at the Blue Mound Community Center at 9:30am. We will be reading a book about manners, playing an interactive game with pretend food to teach “yes, please” and “no thank you”, doing an animal workout, singing songs with sign language for “sorry” and “excuse me”, doing a craft and snack!! Hope to see you in the morning!!
