Miss Stewart’s class had their last Secret Scientist of the school year! Today, students geared up in lab coats with name tags to complete a DNA extraction with strawberries. The experiment ended with each group getting a close up view of the strawberry DNA as seen in these photos. Thank you to all parents who dedicate time to plan these enriching experiments and show up to make learning fun!

PreK had Family Pizza and Game Night this week! Playing games with children is a fun way to teach them about goals, success/failure, rules/integrity, it encourages social skills, and sharpens academic skills!!
Just a reminder, Meridian School District will hold preschool screenings for the 2025-2026 school year on Thursday, Mar. 27th and Friday, Mar. 28th. If you live in the Meridian school district and have a child that is age eligible, they can be screened for this free program. To be age eligible, your child must be at least 3 years old by September 1, 2025, but not yet 5 years old. Bright Start will also be joining us to conduct a free developmental screening for children birth to 3 years old.
Screenings will take place at the Pleasant View Community Building (the old school) in Blue Mound. You may set up an appointment by calling 692-2535, ext 216.

PreK had so much fun visiting the Meridian Ag building! Students were able to get in a tractor, pet chicks, color a farm sheet while having a quick snack, and visited the Roberta K. Gorden Greenhouse to plant their own seeds to take home. Thank you Mr. Brockett and the Meridian High School FFA students for being wonderful hosts!🐣 🌸 🚜

Third graders traveled to UIS to see Doctor Kaboom!💥 We learned about pressures in science and in life and were able to see some amazing experiments!🤯💥🧪🧑🏼🔬
Third grade is reading Judy Moody Saves the World this week. We are learning about recycling and making the world a cleaner place. To celebrate the beautiful weather we took a walk around town to pick up trash!🗑️🚮

Wedding day!! Q & U are officially hitched!! Our Kindergarten had so much fun celebrating!
Thank you to our Little Hawks and PreK families who braved the cold to learn about youth sports opportunities! Also, thank you to Meridian Youth League, A&M Area Soccer League, Decatur Park District, and The Dance Centre for your time in speaking to our families and providing information about local activities to get our kids involved. Each family left with a pass to Scovill Zoo, Splash Cove, and Overlook Adventure Park donated by The Decatur Park District and one lucky family won a gift basket with dance lessons donated by The Dance Centre! Thanks for your generous donations to our future Hawks and our PreK students!
