This Friday, we celebrate Coach Greg Streeval and the legacy he leaves behind in Meridian Softball. Greg is a 12 time Regional Champion at the HS level and went to state 3 consecutive years at the MS level, but his influence goes far beyond the success of the softball field.
Varsity game starts at 4:30 on the Meridian Softball Field vs Tuscola. JV innings to follow.
Retirement reception following the JV innings (track shed area)

Many community members came together to help create a successful Wheels and A Meal Night for our Little Hawks and PreK families! PreK has been learning about all different types of transportation and this was the perfect way to end! Thank you to all those who brought vehicles and Dennis Noland for the airplane flyover!!

PreK celebrated Earth Day by going on a walk to pick up trash!! 🌍
Here is a reminder about tonight's Track and Field "Mini-Meet."
Mark your calendars! An awesome event is coming to the Decatur Civic Center on May 2. Fourth and fifth grade students will be attending this event as a field trip on Thursday, April 30, but Saturday is open to the community. Also, any high school students who are still looking for volunteer opportunities, the ROE is in need of volunteers for the Saturday event.

The Meridian Athletics Golf Outing will be held at Moweaqua Golf Course on Saturday, May 9. The cost for each team is $300 and includes golf and lunch for the day.
Help out Meridian Athletics by sponsoring a hole at the Golf Outing! The cost is only $100 to get a sign on the course during the outing.

Our future Kindergartners came to school for Kindergarten Readiness Night with their parents. They got to experience "lunch" (or dinner) in the cafeteria, learn about expectations for Kindergarten, tour their Kindergarten classrooms and see their specialists classes! Their favorite part might have been getting to play on the big playground for the first time!
Attention Parents of 0-3 Year Olds and Future PreK Students!!
Little Hawks will be hosting a FREE developmental checkup for infants and toddlers age 0-3. This is a great way to check-in on your child’s progress and help give you ideas of how to encourage your child’s growth and track development.
Meridian School District will also hold preschool screenings for the 2026-2027 school year. If you live in the Meridian school district and have a child that is age eligible, they can be screened for this free program. To be age eligible, your child must be at least 3 years old by September 1, 2026, but not yet 5 years old.
Both will be held at Meridian Elementary School on Thursday, March 26th and Friday, March 27th! Please call Mrs. Holdener at 217-692-2535 ext. 216 or you can email her at holdenerk@meridianhawks.net
PreK has been learning about pets and vets and ended their unit with an Animal Buddy Day! Thank you to the many families that brought animals for us to see Head Brothers for bringing the calves, Paw Print Ministry dogs Juliette and Jovie, and the many prek families that brought their pets!

5:00--Volleyball Team departs from school with Fire and Police escort. Everyone in our community parks along Wall St. to honk and cheer the team on as they pass by.
6:00--Fan bus departs from the HS side of our school.
7:00--Game time in Warrensburg.

Additionally, we need to recognize our very own Kaia Arndt and Toledo Cumberland's Harper Nichols for being chosen for the IESA Sectional Sportsmanship award. This award recognizes positive attitudes and sportsmanship throughout the Sectional. Congratulations to both of these competing girls!

Our student body showed up BIG tonight and did a fantastic job of cheering our team to victory. They did a great job of encouraging, being loud, and were unified behind our girls. We had the louder side of the gym by far and the girls knew it.
