Hawk Nation, the lady in this picture is Jenny. She is the person you see in the halls during our HS sporting events keeping things clean and orderly so we can enjoy our beautiful facility. What many of you may not know, is that when all the noise and all the action is over after the game, the gym gets strangely quiet and empty. That is when she goes to work picking up many of our popcorn bags and water bottles. She gets the bleachers clean and the floor swept while the rest of the community makes our journey home reflecting on the game. She does a great job of making sure when the kids get back in the morning, the gym looks like it is brand new and it doesn't even look like we had a game in it the night before. We are so thankful for her. Again, her name is Jenny and please help her by reminding our students to pick up the concession items once they become trash. We can all work together to make our community stronger. THANK YOU, Jenny, for your quiet service. WE SEE YOU!

Friday night was a BIG night at Meridian. Our neighboring district CAM came to town for our annual Cakes for the Cause Night. Seniors from both schools made a cake so community members could bid on the tasty treats during a live auction. Leading up to the night, the annual event had raised just under $60,000 combined since the event started in 2016. Well, on Friday night, the event shattered the record with a grand total of just under $16,000. Included in this total was the donations made upon entrance, the cake auction, and the donations made during the "Miracle Minute" in-between the 3rd and 4th quarters. CAM and Meridian school districts are so humbled by the generosity of our two communities. It was a FANTASTIC display of generosity. CAM will donate to a Saint Louis Children's Heart Hospital and Meridian will donate to local families in need and crisis. THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! (We sadly weren't able to get pictures of each senior, but attached are a few cakes on display.)

On a side note we would also like to thank Auctioneer Jeff Foulks out of Blue Mound for volunteering to handle the auction duties.

The icing on top for Meridian was that the boys were able to secure the win at the end of the game. It was a great effort for both teams and both communities!

We live in a special place....thankful to be a part of it!

Tonight is our annual Hawks vs Raiders "Cakes for the Cause" Night.

The JV game will begin at 6:00 and there will be a cake auction immediately following the JV game. The seniors from both schools have prepared a tasty treat to auction off to our audience.

The funds raised will be used for different causes. This year CAM will donate to the Saint Louis Children's Hospital Heart Center. Meridian will donate to a local family in need.

Meridian is very grateful to have the opportunity to partner with our neighboring school district, CAM. This night has been a long standing tradition for both schools. Whether you directly support by bidding on items or you support by just being in attendance, both schools are thankful.

Please consider packing the place tonight for this special event.

See you here!

Both our boys' and girls' basketball teams were able to get victorys last night. The girls beat Cerro-Gordo to move forward in the Macon County Tournament. They will play tomorrow night at 7:30 against St. T @ WL.

The boys won a very demanding double overtime game vs ALAH with a score of 76-77.

We are proud of both teams!

Keep it up kids!!

This coach right here....

While walking through the halls I noticed that Coach Comerford was taking the time to just talk to her cheer team. It looked like she was having a Christmas party with them. She was passing out gifts and I overheard the girls sharing what they were looking forward to over the break. It was nice moment. We are thankful to have a person that thinks about and cares for her team. As the cheer season approached, the girls were still without a coach, but she stepped up and told us she would do it. Because she did, the girls were able to have a season. For that....we are grateful. Thank you so much Mrs. Comerford!

(Disclaimer....Meridian has great coaches across the board that spend countless hours trying their best to make improvements in their sport and make positive impacts on their players. For that....we are grateful for all our coaches.)

Proud to be Hawk!
