The Meridian Community Unit School District #15 Board of Education held its regular meeting on Monday, December 15, 2025, at the Meridian District Office. During the meeting, Board members received administrative reports highlighting student achievements, instructional initiatives, facility updates, and community involvement across the district.
The Athletic Director’s report noted strong community turnout for the Winter Green and White Night, continued growth in youth and middle school programs, and a successful start to the high school girls’ basketball season. Shelby Renfro was recognized for earning her 1,000th career point, joining an elite group of Meridian athletes.
The Maintenance Director reported completion of carpet tile installation in the elementary STEM lab, completion of replacing a failed water heater at Macon, and continued preparation for winter weather events. HVAC systems across the district were reported to be functioning well.
The SEA/Curriculum Director’s report focused on curriculum map reviews completed during December professional development, upcoming curriculum alignment work beginning with the math department, and winter benchmark testing scheduled for January. Staff wellness initiatives and ongoing special education services were also highlighted.
The Elementary School Principal reported successful holiday activities, including the Grades 3–5 Christmas Concert, classroom celebrations, and plans for the PTO-hosted Christmas Carnival.
The Middle School Principal shared updates on student incentives through Hawk Bucks, successful band and chorus concerts, upcoming drama club production rehearsals, and first semester exam schedules.
The High School Principal highlighted student service projects supporting local families, the annual Senior Citizens Christmas lunch, and winter concerts. Final exams are scheduled for December 18–19, with eligible students able to opt out of up to two exams under a newly adopted attendance incentive.
The Board considered new business items, including committee updates and action items. Items presented included approval of the 2026 Board meeting schedule, the 2025 tax levy, a tax abatement resolution, acceptance of a FY26 School Maintenance Grant for $50,000, and approval of a high school wrestling program for the 2026–2027 school year.
Superintendent, Shane Gordon, provided updates on district finances, noting the proposed tax levy remained under the threshold requiring a Truth in Taxation hearing, and outlined plans for facility improvements supported by grant funding.
Following executive session, the Board considered personnel action items, including approval of coaches for Fall 2026 including Brian Britton (MS baseball), Gracie Butler (MS softball), Kyle Sparks (HS football), Phil Stielow (HS golf), and Matt Rund (HS soccer).
The next regular meeting of the Meridian CUSD #15 Board of Education was scheduled for Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at the Meridian District Office.
