MACON, IL – The Meridian Community Unit School District #15 Board of Education met on Monday, August 11, 2025, at the Meridian CUSD #15 Board Room to conduct its regular monthly meeting and prepare for the start of the new school year.
During the meeting, the Board approved the public display of the Fiscal Year 2026 tentative budget, set the official budget hearing for September 22, 2025, and authorized payment of regular August bills. The Board also approved a new job description for an Elementary STEM Teacher, accepted a quote from Hortin Tiling for work at the district’s transportation facility, set updated pay rates for athletic officials, and approved revisions to the student handbook.
Handbook revisions for the 2025-26 school year will align middle and high school policies on athletic eligibility and tardiness, formalize the exam waiver privilege, and implement a classroom cell phone storage requirement at the high school.
Key personnel updates included:
Retirement: Noelle Prince, effective at the end of the 2028-29 school year.
Resignation: Matt Tangney, Middle School Assistant Boys Basketball Coach.
New hires: Aubrey Escobedo- Elementary STEM Teacher, Brittney Wilson- Food Service at the Macon Campus, and multiple coaching/sponsor positions.
Administrative highlights:
Athletics: Middle school softball and baseball have finalized rosters and begun competition. Fall sports—including volleyball, football, boys soccer, and golf—will begin practices this week, with Green and White Night set for August 22.
Curriculum & Special Education: Staff training sessions, SEL curriculum presentations, and professional development plans are in place for the year. The district is also welcoming new students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and ensuring services are in place.
School Readiness: All three buildings reported final preparations for the first day of student attendance on August 19, including custodial work, registration, and open house events.
The Board will hold its next regular meeting on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at Meridian Elementary School, which will also include the FY 2026 budget hearing.
