Dear MES parents:

Yesterday, Mr. Pygott sent out an email regarding the end of the year timeline for Meridian CUSD #15.  The dates Mr. Pygott noted are listed below.

  • April 20-May 8 - Continuation of remote learning

  • May 8 - last day for new instruction

  • May 11 - 18 Remote Learning days for students to make up work.  No new instruction

  • May 18 - School closes at 3pm for the school year.

  • May 19 - Teacher work day

  • May 20 - Report Cards sent home via email.

The following Question/Answer format will, hopefully, provide you with information your student needs to make sure they successfully complete the year.

  1.  Will school resume on May 1 as originally planned?  No, in person learning has been suspended for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year.  Schools will, however, continue remote learning for the duration of their school calendar.

  2. What is the last day for instruction and or new assignments to be given?  Friday, May 8 will be the last day any new instruction or assignments will be provided by teachers.

  3. What if my student has completed all work at the end of May 8?  Students who have completed ALL remote learning plan activities will be finished with school at 3pm on Friday, May 8.  It is important, however, for students to make sure they have everything completed by this deadline in order to avoid an unexpected “Incomplete” for a class.

  4. What if my student has not completed all work by the end of May 8?  Students who have not completed all assignments, in all classes, will have from May 11 - May 18 to do so as part of the allotted Remote Learning days provided to schools by the Illinois State Board of Education.  Students should work to make sure they have completed all assigned work during this time to avoid receiving an “Incomplete” for the semester and carrying over work into the fall semester.

  5. When is the last day my student can turn in work for the school year? Completion of activities in remote learning plans must be communicated to the teacher by no later than 3pm on Monday, May 18.  This will be the close of the 2019-20 school year and no assignments will be accepted after this deadline.

  6. What if my student does not finish by this deadline?  If a student does not finish work by the close of school on May 18, they will receive an “Incomplete” for the class.  This will be noted on their report card and all work will need to be made up upon returning to school in the fall of 2020.

  7. When will my student be able to drop off materials and pick up any personal items?  At the bottom of this document is a schedule for student drop off of materials and pick up of any personal belongings.  Due to restrictions in place, we would ask that you strictly adhere to this schedule and times. If you have students in multiple grade levels, you may pick one of their grade level times to come and get each of your children’s things.  We will use a pick up/drop off line at our front entrance. No one should park or need to leave their vehicle. Staff will meet you at your vehicle to collect and hand out materials. Students should remember to turn in any textbooks or other class materials and library books. Classroom teachers will be sending out reminders on what books need returned.

  8.   When will my child receive their 4th quarter report card?  4th quarter report cards will be emailed home to all students on Wednesday, May 20.

  9. What if my child has medicine still at school?  Mrs. Crutchfield will be contacting you to arrange for pick up of any medication still left at school.

  10. Are school lunches going to continue to be available for the duration of the school year?  School lunches will continue to be served on Monday and Wednesday for the duration for the school year.  Monday, May 18 will be the last day for student lunches.
